Description
The rare natural beauty and surroundings of Arundel Villa melt away the hustle and bustle of busy living and allow you, once again, to live in harmony with nature. Surrounded by palm trees, orchids, hibiscus, bourgainvillea, gardenias and birds-of-paradise, the professionally landscaped grounds command spectacular panoramic ocean views.
Looking out across the horizon from Cane Garden Bay, your eyes sweep past the mountains of Tortola in the west, to St. Johns and St. Thomas, across the Sir Francis Drake Channel, to thirteen more British and U.S. Virgin Islands.
The Three Pavilions of Arundel consist of three separate buildings which contain four bedrooms suites with four and one-half baths that are interconnected by terraced decks and marble tiled walkways. The pavilions encompass 7,100 square feet of living space, and feature gleaming mahogany hardwood, Tico marble tiled floors, and hand-crafted natural stone walls.
Every room has its own private balcony overlooking the ocean where you can watch the passing boats and acrobatic pelicans. The architectural ingenuity and position of each unit captures the trade winds. In addition, in each room, air-conditioning plus, ceiling fans provide constant circulation as soft tropical breezes flow through the house year-round.
You and your guest will be pampered in complete privacy on two acres of fenced property, and you'll see no other houses nearby. Or, you can enjoy Cane Garden Bay and Brewer's Bay, two of the world's most beautiful beaches just five short minutes from Arundel.
The Main House, in the center of the complex, contains a spacious living room furnished with elegant elephant bamboo sofas, chairs and tables from Bali, antique chests from Korea, lovely Asian bird and floral prints, and even a colorful 18-foot oriental dragon high up in the cathedral ceiling. Chinese porcelain vases and original antiques accent each room.
From the extensive VHS videotape & 500 CD carousel collection, you can listen to the music of your choice. Indoor and outdoor professional BOSE* system & speakers assure hours of soothing music throughout the living room, dining room, swimming pool hot tub and deck areas.
In the dining room, a large glass-topped table supported by four stone warriors easily seats ten people comfortably in Chinese Chippendale chairs. The music room is graced by an ebony baby grand piano for your enjoyment, and a wet bar with ice maker. A powder room is conveniently located off the entrance foyer.
Our fully-equipped gourmet kitchen contains a professional Viking stove, refrigerator, freezer, dishwasher and a complete range of appliances. Through French doors the open deck is complemented with contemporary patio furniture. Delicate wind chimes capture soft breezes. Comfortable lounge chairs and a hot-tub Jacuzzi provide lazy relaxation.
From the deck, jump into our spacious L-shaped swimming pool lined with custom-made Californian wave tiles and surrounded by a lush garden, in the midst of which sits a 17th century laughing Buddha stone statue. Nearby, a fountain splashes down a natural rock wall. The pool is equipped with an automatic ionizing filtration system that purifies the water with little chlorine. Swim all day under sunny skies and at night under a romantic canopy of millions of twinkling stars. A portable telephone, chaise lounges and floats are available, and a gas grill allows for casual outdoor barbecues.
On one side of the Main House are the three private separate suites, the Frangipani, Hibiscus, and Bougainvillea (lower suite) with it's kitchenette. Each of their screened bedrooms has air-conditioning with ceiling fans, cable TV, combination VCR/DVD and CD/Radio, luggage rack, spacious closets and keyed room safes. All three bedroom suites are furnished with Balinese bamboo beds (two queens, one king (converts to two twins), and are decorated with original works of art from the Caribbean, Africa, Asia and many treasured items collected from around the world. Additional amenities include seaweed shampoo and conditioner, milled scented soaps, hair dyers, terry-cloth robes and ample supplies of beach and bath towels. In each room, you can curl up in one of our terry-cloth robes on your private deck where you can enjoy your morning coffee or a cocktail at dusk while watching incredible sunsets that fill the skies with a rich blazes of color.
On the other side of the Main House, across the swimming pool, is Arundel's Orchard Suite with air-conditioning and ceiling fans, four-poster Balinese bamboo queen sized bed, bamboo writing desk, custom-made bookcases and full entertainment unit (Cable TV, DVD, VCR, CD, Radio). Adjoining the bedroom is an elegant Japanese reading room which features tatami mat floors, oriental art and sliding shoji screens. There is a large mirrored bathroom with double sinks and an indoor/outdoor spa shower set in the midst of a lovely outdoor Japanese garden.
We have an excellent library, a wide selection of videos (classics, musicals and new releases) and a wide selection of games located in the Main House. For further relaxation, a professional massage table is available so you can enjoy Arundel's in-house massage service from one of Tortola's outstanding massage therapists. And why not indulge your senses with our full line of in-house Arundel's Spa Treatments are available to you during your stay.
You will be met at Beef Island Airport or the ferry dock (via St. Thomas and St Johns) where we will assist you with car rental, maps, and escort you to Arundel Villa.
Our complimentary first night's dinner (High Season) or Welcome Basket (Low Season) with your choice of red or white wine along with breakfast items plus complimentary wet bar setup for your arrival. You may also hire our professional chef to prepare a wonderful Caribbean dinner upon your arrival or other dinner meals during your stay. Our chef services or full provisioning and Arundel's Spa services must be requested with a minimum of 10 days prior to arrival. We will provide you with maps of the islands and our suggestions for dining, day sailing, night life, nature walks and many other activities.
